Does the idea of running away sound good to you?
When I was a kid, I ran away once. I packed my teddy bear and a few snackies and I set out into the big, wide world. My excursion ended a few hours later at a friend's house. By then I was hungry for a meal and decided maybe home - even with all its dysfunctions - wasn't so bad after all. It was clear that at age 10 or so, I just wasn't ready to support myself.
Such a cute story, huh?
It's not so cute when you're 40-something and wanting to run away. And trust me, from my days as a home school mama and now as a life coach, I've had a lot of people confess this very thing to me. They want to run away. There's a sense of I didn't sign up for this that seems to taunt you. What's even worse is you know you shouldn't feel this way.
Just like I experienced.
Well, this is just great, huh? Let's sing Kumbayah and commiserate together. Maybe we could all run away together to that mythical cabin in the woods. That might make for a nice retreat but when it's your LIFE you want to run from...well, that's another story.
People, you don't need to run away. Or, as I tell my coaching clients, you don't need to go into witness protection.
I'm not going to tell you I've got the answers for you and I'm sure as hell not going to try to sign you up for a "business opportunity."
What I can offer you...hope. I can offer you a partnership in your journey to reconnect with yourself and find a life you love. Professional coaching helps you take a fresh look, gain clarity and move toward more authentic living. No running away. No witness protection.
But here's the deal. It takes work and vulnerability. It takes courage to be real with yourself and at times, that can be terrifying. So if you're looking for fluffy bullshit affirmations and promises of ease, you probably don't want to hang out with me. (Especially if you're uncomfortable with cussing.)
For me, it took years of chronic pain to embrace the simple truths that were already right under my nose. Life is too short to not laugh more, stress less and live authentically.
Coaching has helped me and I know it can help you! (BTW- Here's an explanation of coaching - what it is - and what it isn't.) I offer a free 30-minute discovery session - no obligation. It's important to see if we're a good fit for each other. I offer sessions via phone, Skype or FaceTime or if you're in Prescott, AZ, we can meet face to face.
Not ready to explore coaching but have an issue you'd like me to address? Shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Every Tuesday, I take questions - sort of like if Dear Abby was professional coach and a lot more fun.
And now...a short video testimony I gave. Coaching has helped me heal from years of chronic pain.
I blog regularly on BS-free living, the perils of menopause (and pesky chin hair control), and whatever else may flash through my monkey mind. If you're looking for my older scribblings - on topics like homeschooling and my former humor column pieces, you can find scads of stuff right here.
Mostly though, I just want to encourage you. Here's a few more ways in which I do that.
